Chapter 16
They return to Cair Paravel to see King Caspian’s return. Prince Rilian embraces his father just before he dies. Prince Rilian will be the new king of Narnia. Aslan takes Jill and Eustace back to Aslan’s Country where they see King Caspian lying in the water. Aslan resurrects him with a drop of his own blood. Caspian is once again a young man. Eustace and Caspian greet each other warmly. Aslan tells Jill and Eustace that the next time they come to Aslan’s country they will have come to stay. Aslan allows Caspian to return to England with Eustace and Jill for five minutes to teach the bullies a lesson. The reaction of the bullies and the schoolmistress seeing the lion causes a huge change in the school
The bullies deserved every minute of what they got. It's interesting how C.S. Lewis has that Caspian is raised from the dead with a drop of Aslan's blood. It's also interesting that Aslan says that most people have died including Aslan himself. This is of course referring to Christ's death for us. By His death and resurrection we live.

Chapter 15
Jill finally reaches through the top surface and is greeted with a snowball in her face. She has entered Narnia through a hole in the side of a hill. The talking animals surround Jill and help her dig out the rest of her friends.
They are out of hell and back into Narnia.

Chapter 14
Prince Rilian doesn’t want to leave his horse and the queen’s behind to die so they run to the horses and then attempt to go through the tunnel that is being dug to the overland. The earth opens up and a passage into the heart of the earth is opened. It is very hot. The earthman invites them to come with him to see his land. They debate briefly and decide Prince Rilian’s responsibility is to try to return to Narnia and rule there. They continue on and discover the tunnel comes to a dead end but they see a pale blue light above them. They try to reach it by having Jill stand on Puddleglum’s shoulders.
You're probably dead if you see a light at the end of the tunnel, so go to the light. I don't think descending into molten lava would have been much of a temptation for me.

Chapter 13
Puddleglum’s foot is bandaged while they discuss their escape. They hear noises and watch the earthmen come to life, talking and leaping. The water around them is rising. There is an earthquake occurring as well. They fear that the earthmen are going to attack them because they have destroyed the queen. They discover while running away that the earthmen are celebrating that the queen is dead.
In RvB's words,
"That's right the queen is dead. Turns out you are the big hero. And we're going to hold a parade in your honor.
I get to drive the float and my friend here is in charge of the confetti."

Chapter 12
The queen comes in and is furious but she uses a magic fire and music to confuse and befuddle the children’s minds and Prince Rilian again. She is convincing them that there is no overland, no sun, no sky, no Aslan. Puddleglum is almost overcome by it but stomps out the fire, burning his foot and breaks the spell. The queen is enraged and turns into the green snake that she is. Prince Rilian and Eustace hack off her head.
Pretty sure that magic stuff in the fire smelled tipsy. Burnt Puddleglum probably smelled really bad. The queen was the snake that killed Rilian's mom. Sin isn't as obvious in our world, we tell ourselves it's not so bad. Maybe it would be easier to avoid if we could recognize it like a green snake.

Chapter 11
He feeds them and tells them how wonderful the queen is and won’t hear of any criticism of her. He then tells them about the curse that has been put on him. He believes the queen is protecting him and will eventually free him of the spell. He says the queen and the earthmen are digging a tunnel and will conquer the land they are tunnelling to. A short time later, he tells them that his “fit” is coming upon him and asks them to stay with him as he doesn’t want to be alone. He tells them not to free him from the silver chair he will be bound onto or he will, in a fit of rage kill them. He tells them not to listen to his pleading when he is under the spell. The guards come in and bind him onto the silver chair. When the enchantment is upon him, he begs them to let him go and eventually asks them in the name of Aslan to release him. That is the fourth sign, so although they don’t know what will happen, they obey Aslan and release him. Prince Rilian identifies himself and destroys the silver chair and the queen returns.
I would probably have freaked out if I had been with Eustace. In our world it can be hard to make a decision when we don't know the outcome, especially if there are good reasons to think the result might be not in our favor. If I might get into trouble for telling the truth, should I anyway as in when people hid the Jews from the Nazis? Puddleglum is very correct when he says that Aslan didn't tell them what would happen when they obeyed just that they were to do what he said.

Chapter 10
They plunge into darkness so black that they can’t see each other when they finally land at the bottom of the tunnel. They are spoken to by an underlander who with his army takes them to see the queen of the underland. They pass by a huge ancient giant who is sleeping. He is Father Time they are told and he will awaken at the end of the world. Throughout their long march they keep being told, “many come down but few return to the sunlit lands.” They get into a boat and sail to a castle. The queen is not home but the prince demands to see the travellers. He invites them for a meal.
Creepy, scary underground men are "scaring me." The monster men seem very depressed and should think about taking Prozac. It's hard to imagine a world with no sunlight and utter darkness where you can't see your hand in front of your face.

Chapter 9
The king and queen leave on a hunt. Jill acts as though she is sad they are leaving and asks permission to explore the castle. When they get to the kitchen, while they are waiting for the cook to fall asleep so they can escape through the cat’s special door, Jill looks through a cookbook and is horrified to see a recipe for manpie and marshwiggle stew. They realize that they are to be cooked and eaten the next day at the Autumn Feast. The cook falls asleep and the three make a run for it. The hunting party returns just then and send the dogs after the escaping trio. They find a hole in the rocks and crawl into it, not knowing that they have entered a steep tunnel which they fall through.
The question is how did the giants get dogs that were so huge or how did the little dogs survive with such huge giants. Especially since these giants eat all kinds of things, including talking beasts.

Chapter 8
They are given hot bathes and sent to bed. Jill has forgotten the signs and dreams that Aslan is angry with her. The three get together the next day and see the third sign on the rocks below the castle. They begin to plan how they might escape. They are not sure what giants’ intentions are for them.
Jill's conscience must have been bothering her and she dreamt about Aslan being angry. Or maybe she had a vision or dream from Aslan. They are feeling uneasy at the castle and realize they pretty much prisoners there.
Sometimes it takes a while for us to see that sometimes the pleasures we want, even good things, can become traps for us like addictions, etc.

Chapter 7
Our heroes continue on their journey and it begins to snow. It gets very cold and windy. The ground they travel on becomes very rough. Jill falls into a trench which they investigate briefly and then continue their journey to Harfang. Puddleglum is always very pessimistic about everything. They are allowed into Harfang and are given food and water. Puddleglum is given liquor to drink and gets tipsy. The three are brought before the king and queen giants who are delighted to see them and welcome them just in time for the autumn feast.
Those trenches were probably used during WWI in Vime Ridge. The kids are very eager to "get boiled alive."
Sometimes temptations look very good. Puddleglum is still thinking more about Aslan than the kids are when he reminds them that the signs didn't say anything about visiting with giants gentle or otherwise. Could that have something to do with his age?

Chapter 6
The three travellers set out on their adventure only to have to go through an area where idiotic giants are playing a game of throwing rocks at an object. Fortunately the giants take no notice of the three companions. They cross a river over an old giants’ bridge and come across a beautiful lady in green riding with a black night who doesn’t speak. She tells them to go to a castle of gentle giants and to give them her regards. She tells them they will have warm beds, hot food and hot baths there. Eustace, Jill and Puddleglum are tired, cold and hungry. The children are eager to go to Harfang Castle. Puddleglum is reluctant and doesn’t trust the lady in green.
I think the green lady and the black knight are evil. Puddleglum is not always wrong with his everything is bad and dangerous predictions. With all the kids have been through, I can understand why they would want warm beds, hot food and hot baths. She is probably sending them to a dangerous place where they will be boiled JK.

Chapter 5
The owls fly them to a marshwiggle named Puddleglum which is a creature which is 25% frog and 75% human. The owls leave and the children spend the night in the marshwiggle’s wigwam. The next morning over a breakfast of stewed eel, they plan to leave the next day for the north and the ruinous city, the second of Aslan’s signs or instructions.
I'm still trolling about Puddleglum's emo humor and how he thinks that everything will turn out wrong or for the worst. There are people in this world that are really like that.

Chapter 4
The owls come to take them secretly at night to the owl parliament. There they tell the owls their story and learn the events that have taken place in Narnia. The Prince Rilian has disappeared and was last seen going to the fountain where his mother had been killed by a green snake. The old king has gone to the Lone Islands hoping to see Aslan one more time before he dies.
I am not Albert Einstein but I know that time moves differently in these two worlds. Its amazing to think that Eustace is still just a young lad while King Caspian who was the same age is an old fart ready to die.

Chapter 3
Jill meets up with Eustace and tries to tell him what she has experienced but he is focused on watching the old king of Narnia leave on a voyage. An owl takes them to see Trumpkin, the lord regent who is almost totally deaf and makes some humerous comments while he tries to understand who these strangers are. He invites them to the castle. Jill finally gets to tell Eustace what the signs are that Aslan has told them to watch for and Eustace recognizes that he has already missed the first one. He was to speak to the first person he knew in Narnia
LOL for the dwarf. I'm sure it hit Eustace really hard that he had missed the first sign Aslan had given them. He already knew who Aslan was and respected and loved him.

Chapter 2
Jill thinks she is dreaming and is very thirsty. She goes to a stream and sees Aslan. She is terrified of him. Aslan does not tell Jill he is safe or that he won’t eat her. He gives her some of his wisdom and tells her she has a task to perform. Somehow she knows she can trust him though. He gives her four signs to remember for her task. She tries to remember them but can’t. So Aslan has her repeat them to him until she has them memorized. She then rides on Aslan’s breath to Narnia, a very pleasant and long journey where she sees many sights in the new land.
In this chapter, it seems strange in some way that Aslan wouldn't reassure Jill that he won't eat her or harm her. He knows she doesn't know him yet. He seems to want her just to trust him because of who he is. Does that not seem to be somewhat like the God we know.

I guess google doesn't want me to use the youtube gadget. So here's the address for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader trailer.
Chapter 1
O.K. guys, this is the first chapter of the book.
The story begins in England but quickly moves to Narnia...
Eustace finds Jill behind the gym crying because the school bullies are being mean to her. The school is a very unusual one in which bullies are allowed to mistreat others without any interference from the school masters. The idea that everyone should be allowed to do whatever they want is the school’s philosophy. Eustace cheers her up by telling her about his secret adventures in Narnia. They see the bullies coming after them and they run to a door in the garden wall which is usually locked. But this time it isn’t. They go through and Eustace realizes he has entered Narnia again. It is autumn in England but spring or summer in Narnia. They approach the edge of a very steep, high cliff. Jill tries to show off because she knows Eustace is afraid of heights. Eustace tries to pull Jill away from the edge but he falls off instead. Jill turns around and she sees a lion.
This probably is the most boring beginning in all the books. Eustace falling off the cliff really caught my attention, sarcasm, if you didn't catch it. Bullies calling Jill, Pole all the time isn't really all that bad. My name is Sollid and do I get made fun of, no. Seriously, bullies, you really do need to work a lot harder to come up with something.
But the bottom line is ZERO tolerance for bullying.

Hey Bloggers, I have to do an assignment for school so I chose C.S.Lewis' "The Silver Chair." Basically what I will be doing is posting a summary of each chapter I read. I will include some of my own thoughts as well.
The new Narnia movie that came out at Christmas, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is pretty good. You should all see it. I'll post a trailer for you. With each chapter in this book, I will post BBC's interpretation of the book as well. Mind you, they don't follow each chapter so some of them are combined. I'll post the chapter as soon as I've read it.
