Chapter 2

Jill thinks she is dreaming and is very thirsty.  She goes to a stream and sees Aslan.  She is terrified of him.  Aslan does not tell Jill he is safe or that he won’t eat her.  He gives her some of his wisdom and tells her she has a task to perform.  Somehow she knows she can trust him though. He gives her four signs to remember for her task.  She tries to remember them but can’t.  So Aslan has her repeat them to him until she has them memorized.  She then rides on Aslan’s breath to Narnia, a very pleasant and long journey where she sees many sights in the new land.

In this chapter, it seems strange in some way that Aslan wouldn't reassure Jill that he won't eat her or harm her.  He knows she  doesn't know him yet.  He seems to want her just to trust him because of who he is.  Does that not seem to be somewhat like the God we know.
